What Clean Light 7 Blinks / Sanitized LED Blinking (665 / Whirlpool-built) Means
On 665-prefix Kenmore and Kenmore Elite dishwashers, seven blinks of the Clean light means the control energised the heating element and never saw the expected rise in water temperature. A Sanitized LED blinking at the end of a cycle carries the related message that sanitising temperature was never confirmed.
Common Causes of Clean Light 7 Blinks / Sanitized LED Blinking (665 / Whirlpool-built)
- A failed heating element
- Damaged wiring in the heater circuit
- Incoming water too cold for the temperature rise to be achieved in time
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Run the kitchen hot tap for a minute before starting a cycle, and check the water heater is not set unusually low; cold incoming water can prevent the temperature rise the control is looking for.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The element terminals pass through the tub floor and are live whenever the breaker is on.
- An element fitted onto discoloured, overheated terminals fails again in short order.
- A heater fitted while the household water arrives cold will still fail to hit the sanitising temperature.
