This is the Whirlpool-built direct-drive dryer platform that Kenmore sold under the 110 prefix for roughly a quarter-century — one of the most common dryers we service given how long it stayed in production. The gas side adds an igniter and gas valve on top of the same mechanical timer and drum-belt system used on […]
Kenmore Legacy Belt-Drive Dryer
Before the direct-drive platform, Kenmore’s dryers used a belt-and-pulley drivetrain to turn the drum off the motor — a genuinely different mechanical layout with its own failure pattern. A squealing or slipping belt on this generation is a distinct, well-understood repair, separate from the direct-drive platform’s own coupler and roller wear points.
Kenmore Elite Oasis Dryer
The Oasis dryer was built to pair with Kenmore’s Oasis top-load washer, sharing that era’s larger-capacity design and electronic touchpad control rather than the mechanical timer found on the direct-drive generation before it. A control-board problem on this model is diagnosed separately from the sensor-dry and heating systems, since all three run through largely independent […]
Kenmore 69162
The 69162 is Kenmore’s current standard-capacity electric dryer, built around sensor-dry moisture detection rather than a fixed timer. Because the sensor strips sit right in the drum path, a residue buildup on them is one of the most common causes of an inaccurate sensor-dry complaint, and it’s worth ruling out before assuming the heating element […]
Kenmore 79162
The 79162 is the gas counterpart to Kenmore’s current standard-capacity electric dryer, adding an igniter and gas valve to the same sensor-dry system. A dryer that tumbles but won’t heat is checked at the gas ignition system first on this model, since a failed igniter is a far more common cause than a sensor problem.
Kenmore 92272
Front-load dryers like the 92272 are designed to stack with or sit alongside Kenmore’s front-load washers, and their large 8.0 cu. ft. drum and front-hinged door are genuinely different from a top-load-style dryer’s cabinet layout — door-seal and steam-injection problems are diagnosed as their own systems, separate from the gas heating path.
Kenmore 82282
The 82282 is the electric counterpart to Kenmore’s 8.0 cu. ft. gas front-load dryer, sharing the same large-capacity drum and AccelaSteam feature but heating with an electric element instead of a gas burner. A no-heat complaint here is isolated to the heating element and its high-limit thermostat, separate from the steam-injection system.
