What SE Means
SE means the control panel has detected a keypad button that appears stuck or shorted — the microwave locks out further input until the fault clears, to avoid the unit responding to a button that isn't actually being pressed.
Common Causes of SE
- Moisture or food residue causing a button to read as stuck
- Physically stuck or damaged keypad button
- Control panel membrane fault beneath the button surface
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Wipe down the control panel to check for moisture, food residue, or a stuck button, then unplug the microwave for a few minutes to reset the keypad reading.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If cleaning the surface and power-cycling doesn't clear SE, the fault is likely beneath the panel membrane itself, which means accessing internal electronics that share space with the high-voltage capacitor.
- A control panel replaced without confirming which specific button or membrane section failed is a guess on an otherwise avoidable expense.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
