What F30 / F31 (Kenmore electronic oven control) Means
F30 reports the oven temperature sensor probe connection as electrically open and F31 reports the probe circuit as shorted. Both leave the control without a temperature it can trust, so the oven stops heating.
Common Causes of F30 / F31 (Kenmore electronic oven control)
- An oven temperature sensor probe out of specification
- A probe harness broken or unseated behind the cavity
- An electronic oven control no longer reading the probe circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cut power at the breaker for a few minutes and restore it; a code that returns on the next bake attempt has confirmed a genuine probe circuit fault.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The probe sits inside the cavity and its harness runs to a control that is live at the breaker, so both power and heat are hazards.
- A probe fitted without its harness checked reports exactly as the old one did.
- On a double wall oven the two cavities share part of the control architecture, so careless work on one affects the other.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
