What F92 / F93 / F94 (Kenmore electronic oven control) Means
F92 reports that the oven door stayed open longer than the control allows, while F93 and F94 report the door taking too long to lock or failing after too many lock attempts. All three point at the wiring between the electronic oven control and the door lock motor microswitch.
Common Causes of F92 / F93 / F94 (Kenmore electronic oven control)
- A door lock motor microswitch no longer reporting
- Wiring between the oven control and the lock motor damaged
- A door hinge dropped enough that the latch no longer aligns
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the oven door firmly and try the self-clean cycle once more from cold; a lock that succeeds on a cold cavity but fails on a hot one is a useful distinction to report.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Let the cavity cool fully before anything is attempted; self-clean heat is retained for hours.
- Cut power at the breaker before panels are opened, and close the gas valve first on a gas wall oven.
- A latch refitted slightly out of alignment passes one test and fails on the next clean cycle.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
