What IE / OE (722-prefix) Means
Kenmore dishwashers beginning 722 use the two-letter code style familiar from LG appliances rather than the Whirlpool F-codes: IE means the machine is not filling, and OE means it is not draining.
Common Causes of IE / OE (722-prefix)
- A supply cut-off valve closed or part closed
- A blocked sink drain or garbage disposal
- A failed inlet valve or an obstructed drain pump
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
For IE, check the water supply cut-off valve for the dishwasher is fully open and look along the inlet hose for a kink; for OE, check the sink drain or garbage disposal for a clog.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Shut off the water and the breaker before the toe panel is removed, since both services meet behind it.
- 722-series parts do not cross over from Whirlpool-built Kenmore dishwashers, so the prefix belongs on every order.
- Standing water in the tub spills the moment a base panel is disturbed, so it is bailed out first.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
