What F5/E0 / F5/E1 (665-prefix) Means
F5/E0 on a 665-prefix Kenmore range means the door switch says the door is open while the latch switch says it is locked — the two disagree. F5/E1 means the self-clean latch will not complete its travel in either direction.
Common Causes of F5/E0 / F5/E1 (665-prefix)
- A failed oven door switch
- A latch motor or latch switch no longer completing its travel
- A door hinge dropped enough to misalign the latch
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open and close the oven door and watch the oven light; a light that does not go out when the door shuts points straight at the door switch, and that check needs no tools.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the door is locked after a failed self-clean, let the cavity cool completely before anything is attempted — forcing it risks a serious burn as well as a broken latch.
- On a gas range, shut off the gas at the appliance valve before any panel is removed.
- A latch reassembled slightly out of alignment passes a bench test and fails on the next clean cycle.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
