What F9 / F19 (721-prefix Elite double oven) Means
F9 and F19 on Kenmore Elite 721-prefix double-oven ranges report a cavity that is not heating — F9 for the upper, F19 for the lower. The published first check differs by fuel: voltage supply on the electric version, and gas supply on the gas one.
Common Causes of F9 / F19 (721-prefix Elite double oven)
- A gas supply interruption on a gas model
- Half the 240-volt supply missing on an electric model
- A failed heating element, igniter or relay on the affected cavity
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
On a gas model, turn on a surface burner and see whether it lights, since that tells you at once whether gas is reaching the appliance; on an electric model, reset both halves of the house breaker fully.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- On a gas range, if you smell gas at any point, leave the appliance alone, ventilate the room and contact your gas supplier before anything else.
- Close the appliance gas shut-off valve before any panel is removed on a gas model, and cut power at the breaker on every model.
- Igniter and gas valve work is not an owner task, because unburnt gas in a kitchen is the consequence of getting it wrong.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
