What IE (796 / LG-built) Means
IE is how an LG-built Kenmore washer — model number beginning 796 — reports that water is not arriving fast enough. The published thresholds are specific: the first expected level not reached inside eight minutes, or the final level not reached inside twenty-five.
Common Causes of IE (796 / LG-built)
- A supply tap only part open after a plumbing job or a house move
- Inlet valve screens blocked with grit and scale
- Household water pressure too low to fill inside the allowed window
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open both supply taps behind the machine all the way and straighten any hose pressed flat against the wall; the LG-built platform is unforgiving about supply pressure and this clears a fair share of IE reports.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Turn both taps off before unscrewing any hose, or the line behind the machine empties at mains pressure.
- The fine mesh screens in the LG inlet valves tear easily, and a torn screen means the whole valve.
- Chasing IE by replacing a valve will not help if the real limit is the pressure your house delivers.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
