What OE (796 / LG-built) Means
OE on LG-built Kenmore washers carrying 796-prefix model numbers means the tub is emptying too slowly, or not at all. The documented order of investigation is the household drain, then the machine's own hose, then the pump wiring.
Common Causes of OE (796 / LG-built)
- A blocked or slow household drain or standpipe
- The washer drain hose kinked behind the cabinet or pushed too far into the pipe
- A drain pump obstructed by lint, coins or hair
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Pull the drain hose out of the standpipe and check the standpipe itself for a blockage before blaming the washer — a slow house drain produces this code on a perfectly healthy pump.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the pump filter door at the front is opened — that panel sits right beside the power cord entry.
- A tub still holding water empties onto the floor the moment a filter cap is loosened, so a wide tray comes first.
- Forcing a filter cap that will not turn cracks the housing and converts a cleaning job into a parts job.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
