What F3/E2 / F3/E3 (665-prefix) Means
These two 665-prefix Kenmore range codes report the oven exceeding a hard limit: F3/E2 above 575 degrees Fahrenheit in Bake, and F3/E3 above 950 degrees in Clean. The numbers are specific because the control is watching for a runaway rather than a small drift.
Common Causes of F3/E2 / F3/E3 (665-prefix)
- A stuck relay leaving a heating element energised
- An oven temperature sensor reading far lower than the true temperature
- An electronic oven control failure
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Stop using the oven and switch the range off at the breaker; an over-temperature report is the one oven fault that deserves that response before any diagnosis.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Leave the breaker off while the cavity cools; an oven that has overshot in Clean mode holds enormous heat for a long time.
- On a gas range, close the appliance gas valve before any panel work as well as cutting the power.
- Running another cycle to see whether it repeats risks a second overshoot in an already stressed cavity.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
