What 1C/1C / 1C/2C (665-prefix) Means
On 665-prefix Kenmore free-standing ranges using the two-part code display, 1C/1C reports a stuck key or a defective keypad and 1C/2C reports the keypad wire harness unplugged from the electronic oven control.
Common Causes of 1C/1C / 1C/2C (665-prefix)
- Grease or spillage holding a key down
- A keypad membrane that no longer releases
- The keypad ribbon unseated at the oven control
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press every key in turn and feel for one that stays down, then wipe the console clean; cooking spillage running into a key edge is a common cause and an easy one to rule out.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The keypad ribbon is behind a console carrying line voltage, so the breaker goes off before the panel does.
- A ribbon creased while being reseated fails permanently rather than intermittently.
- Replacing the electronic oven control when the keypad is the failed part is a costly misdiagnosis.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
