What F10 / F11 / F20 (721-prefix Elite double oven) Means
On Kenmore Elite 721-prefix double-oven ranges, F10 reports the upper oven door lock and F20 the lower one. F11 is different in kind: a communications error between the oven control board and the cooktop control board, which on this platform are separate.
Common Causes of F10 / F11 / F20 (721-prefix Elite double oven)
- A door lock motor or its wiring no longer operating
- A harness between the oven and cooktop control boards damaged
- A failed control board at either end of that link
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If a door has locked shut, allow the cavity to cool completely rather than forcing it; for F11, note whether the cooktop or the oven side is the one that has stopped responding.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Forcing a locked oven door while the cavity is hot risks a serious burn on top of breaking the latch.
- On the gas version, close the appliance gas valve before any panel is removed.
- Because the oven and cooktop boards are separate here, a guessed order has even odds of reaching the wrong one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
