What F-31 / F:31 (110 / Whirlpool-built Oasis and Elite) Means
F-31 and F:31 on the Whirlpool-built Oasis and Elite dryers mean the second leg of the 240-volt supply has dropped below roughly 30 volts. The drum can still turn on the remaining leg while heating has nothing to draw on.
Common Causes of F-31 / F:31 (110 / Whirlpool-built Oasis and Elite)
- One side of a double-pole breaker tripped or failed internally
- A loose or burnt connection at the dryer terminal block
- A damaged supply cord on one leg
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reset the dryer's house breaker properly — fully off, then on — because a double-pole breaker can trip on one side while the handle still looks engaged.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A 240-volt terminal block that has been arcing needs an electrician, not a screwdriver and optimism.
- Burnt terminals are replaced rather than retightened, because the damage is already done to the metal.
- No dryer component will restore a supply leg that is missing before the machine.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
