What F20 (110 / Whirlpool-built front-load) Means
F20 is the no-fill fault on the Whirlpool-built front-loaders Kenmore sold under 110-prefix model numbers. It is a useful illustration of why the model prefix matters: a Kenmore front-loader built by LG, with a model number starting 796, reports the identical symptom as IE instead, and the two machines share almost no parts.
Common Causes of F20 (110 / Whirlpool-built front-load)
- A supply tap closed, part closed, or seized after years untouched
- Fill hoses kinked behind the cabinet or partly frozen in an unheated space
- A failed inlet water valve on the back of the machine
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check both supply taps behind the machine are fully open and both hoses run without a tight kink; in winter, the published advice for this platform is to check the fill lines for freezing before assuming a valve has failed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Close both taps before a hose is unscrewed, otherwise the line empties across the floor at mains pressure.
- Inlet valve screens are delicate mesh; a screen torn while being cleaned turns into a whole valve assembly.
- A valve replaced when the real problem is household water pressure will not fill any faster than the old one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
