What Er FS / Er rS (795 / LG-built) Means
Er FS and Er rS on LG-built Kenmore refrigerators — model numbers beginning 795 — report the freezer sensor and the refrigerator sensor respectively. The published causes name the thermistor, the wiring harness and the power control board as the three candidates.
Common Causes of Er FS / Er rS (795 / LG-built)
- A thermistor out of specification
- A wiring harness fault at the sensor connector
- A power control board no longer reading the circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Put an independent thermometer on a middle shelf and in the freezer and read them after a few hours; when the appliance cannot trust its own sensors, an outside reading is the only honest measure.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the refrigerator before any interior panel is removed; the sensor harness ends at a live board.
- Sensor runs in an LG-built cabinet pass close to refrigerant tubing, and a pierced line is a sealed-system repair.
- A thermistor fitted without checking its harness reproduces the identical code.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
